no exceptions for refunds
I do not care about points or weeks refunds so I do not buy your protection as it only covers reinstatement of the week. However, you made no exceptions to monetary refunds during Covid and now we had the worse hurricane ever in Southwest Fl. I had to cancel due to roof damage and am waiting for a roof contractor. My reservation is Berkshire Mountain Lodge Oct 15-22. I would like to have my 156.00 refunded or held at Bershire for a future reservation.
You seem to be the only company who does not help victims of this hurricane.
Disappointed in Sarasota FL
We went for the tour everything was great until the pandemic. We lost our credits which is 1500.00 per couple because the pandemic how can you travel with a person with an auto immune disease during that time. I think being a reputable company you would be understanding and extend our credits for a year so we could use them. It has been a tough year for everyone you included but by word of mouth and satisfied people is how you have a great company and build your resort family Sincerely Walter
Purchased 30 weeks all inclusive at a resort, was given 2 additional weeks (exclusive) at same resort and was given (cough cough) 31 more all inclusive weeks though RCI over a 30 yr period. Total 63 weeks in 30 years. So why when I book though RCI for any of the 63 weeks, I end up paying all inclusive fees and air fare. Hum ends up costing more than if I were to go to a travel agent and booking that would include all inclusive fees, accommodation and air fare. So what was the benefit of buying (spending $6000.00 US)?
The accommodation at Lilly Land Aka "Mirage Bay" are the most filthy and disgusting rooms I have ever experienced. It is plain filthy. Attached are the photos and two videos for you to see. There is pubic hair on the floor of the bathroom. There are other things smeared on the floor under the counter and the shower still has the last few people's soap...
Mountain place resort (gatlinburg) resort id 0302 4160 old webb creek rd
This is the worse resort I have visited in my 30 plus years of using time shares. Where do I start? I will provide pictures as well. As I try to find the check in, which I finally found. They actually live in one of the units with about 10 other people. It looks deserted. Pool was filled with green slime, lady said they have not had a chance to vacuum it. It actually needs to be drained and reserviced. It looks like a pond, I was surprised not see frogs or snakes. DISGUSTING! As I walk to my room notice door bell ringer broke, out door lighting wires exposed. Once inside dirty stained chairs, ceiling water stains throughout, kitchen outlet not working, an old television outside on the lower patio, also another one in master bedroom. Front curtain where tied together, so you where unable to open them. Stained carpet throughout, drywall patch work through out. Beds were like sleeping on a rock, pillows were flat. Electrical outlet in the kitchen and spare room not working. Sheets torn, shower head needs updated. Overgrown grass, dead bushes needed pulled out. No tvs in spare rooms.
We were forced into buying a timeshare 20 years ago, under pressure and paid a £500 deposit which we were told we had 5 days in which to cancel. On returning home we decided to not go ahead with it and tried to cancel only to be told we would have to pay roughly another 3 and half thousand pounds to exit the contract which we paid. I cant remember the exact dates of when we went was between 2000 to 2005.
Good morning - We have been paying customers for over 30 years and have never not paid levies. Due to Covid-19 we have not been able to swap our timeshare which is in October at Sabi River Sun for December/January which is our holiday period. I have secured two swaps being week 3-10 June 2022 and 15-22 July 2022 respectively and have paid R3 000 towards our 2022 levy as of yesterday. The points used for the two weeks secured will lapse end of July 2022 which is why I have secured same. Those points have nothing to do with this years levy payable. As soon as I get paid by the State Attorney in Mafikeng (money due to my advocate and myself since Feb 2022) I will pay the balance. I do not need to be reminded like a child to pay these levies. I take exception to the e-mail received yesterday after I requested this year's statement for levy to be sent to me. Kind regards. On July 17th, 2019 I purchased a travel package for $2299.00, member id: RCIP51572JMC.
The sales person was very assertive on the call and convinced me that by purchasing this package, I would get two 7 day certificates to travel anywhere plus use the $2299 to book hotels, gifts and other things from their website. I was also advised that I have until 2024 to use the $2299.
I told him that I would like to travel to Hawaii for which he confirmed that I can use the certificates.
Few days later, I got a call from the supervisor of the department who told me that he listened to the call and felt that the sales person was not giving me the correct information for Hawaii. Since Hawaii is very expensive, I would have to pay on top of the certificate. Because of that, the supervisor gave me $500 in travel funds to use towards the reservation.
I booked the first certificate however, due to COVID I had to cancel in April of 2020. At that time, I had to pay over $1100 additional money as the certificate did not cover the Mexico vacation. I took a long time to get the money refunded and reinstate my 2 certificates. Since the certificates were booked, my online access was removed which prevented me to use the $2299 towards hotels. Every time I called, I was given different # since no one knew what I spoke about. These funds are only available to be used while the certificates are valid and once you book the certificates, the access to the website is no longer available. I rebooked my certificates to Mexico for April of 2022 however, due to COVID and high crime rates, I just cancelled on Feb 16th during that time I was told that I have to call back in 3 days to request my online account. When I called today, 2/22/22 I am being advised that it takes up to 10 business days for a cancellation to be processed and that I was given wrong information. The agent is also not able to explain to me how to use the remaining funds of $1525 on the account.
My experience from the beginning has been OWFULL, the salesperson mis-lead me and lied to me. To have the manager call me and acknowledge that should have been an indicator.
It's very apparent that I'm not the only customer that has been duped and lied to. I made numerous calls and asked for supervisors or, managers to call me back however, no one ever did.
I ask that you listen to all the calls starting with the sales call and I'm not surprised to hear that this department was shot down. Customer Service was non-existent. Because the business relationship change, RCI do not service members that have expired accounts and because the contract changes and no longer assisting RCI members so the savings credits are no longer valid! I'm being told by your customer services staff that this relationship ended in 2021and you no longer service the RCI customers!
Since I'm not the only customer impacted by this scam, I will be looking to pursue legal actions unless I get my money back.
I purchased a $2,199.00 travel package. Member # RCIP77941FQZWe were supposed to get a 1 week resort stay and a cruise with balcony for 2 ppl. We bought the certificates in the spring of 2019. Because covid 19 hit and we were not going to be able to travel during the pandemic, I called to see if they would extend our expiration date. I was told it they would check with management and get back to me. No one ever called. When I called back, they told me I lost the resort certificate but should go ahead and book the cruise. They said if I book the cruise, I can always change the date and destination with the cruise line. So, I booked a cruise for Oct, 2022. When I called back Feb 2022 to verify, they said my membership had expired and they cannot see any cruise booked. Try to call the cruise dept. I have been on hold for 1 1/2 hours listening to a recording asking me to "Please continue to hold" and no one will pick up!
Sincerely,
Robin Ifantis
RCI's customer service is terrible. I have an issue with an ongoing search. I have spent hours on the phone and on their website trying to correct the search. I have spoken to a dozen call center representatives and two Supervisors and the issue is not resolved. The Supervisors were rude and condescending. I have been a customer for 25 years, so I am experienced with their systems.
Really, Your policies are a joke; a farce and a rip off. I have enough points for a stay and you want to charge me to combine them, that is a [censored] fee to make money. I move a week into you pool and then that week is not even good enough to go back into the same resort, that is a joke and a farce. Your system is a complete rip off. Your resorts such [censored], I have not exchanged into one that I would recommend to anyone. All the ones you want to stay in are NEVER, EVER available and if they are the points that I dropped in are not enough for a like kind property that they came out of. Your program is a total scam. Your representatives are unprofessional. You should be shut down. I will never bank another week with you or recommend you.
I purchased a vacation on November 11, 2017 for $3, 700. Account # RCIP35696TMW. Once I had paid 80 percent of the balance, I called RCI vacations on March 11, 2019 and spoke to David Pires about a using the cruise certificate. David was supposed to provided additional information before finalizing the trip. I never received a return call from that representative. Then I receive a voice message from Tony Thompson in May 2019 stating my certificate was about to expire. When I responded to the message, Tony informs me it past the expiration date and I must pay 599 to reactive the cruise certificate. I explained that I have been trying to get the cruise scheduled for a couple of months and never received the additional information. Tony was to return my call. He never returned the call or responded to my voice messages. I called again on June 1, I spoke to Mitzi who finally referred me to customer support and stated a supervisor "Cynthia" would return a call. I called again on June 3 and spoke to Juan who stated he would escalate to management. I would receive a return call in 3 to 5 days. I called again on June 24th and was advised another email was going to management so they can return my call. I continue to get the run around which I now realize is a tactic to get an angry customer off the phone. Please understand, I have used RCI vacations previously and always had a very positive experience. Clearly, something has changed with the company.
My resolution request: A full refund of all monies paid to this vacation. My husband is a disabled veteran and we used RCI vacations payment plan to afford vacations because of our limited income. Now we have been robbed of that luxury.
I purchased an RCI travel package cost $1999 (with a $199 deposit and $100 monthly payment of $100 for 18 months and was told that I had 3 years to use the certificates). With each travel package, you get a seven-day cruise for 2 and 1week stay at a resort for 2 people. Unfortunately, I missed the reservation cut off by 1 day to make the reservations/redeem the certificates (even though I was told that the certicates were good until April 27, 2019) and now RCI or ICE wants me to pay an additional $1300 to upgrade or $599 per cruise certificate and $399 for a resort certificate to extend them for another 6 months! THIS is ourageous as I have already paid for 3 certificates that I no longer can use and RCI wants me to pay more money! RCI travel will not refund your money plus if you do not use the packages within two years you lose the certificate. RCI did offer to buy back the resort package $1300 each but they make you buy another package for $3400. Plus it is not a refund it is money that they hold onto that you can use for hotel or airfare. When you do go to use the certificate they tax on a fees. They advertise it as a free seven week resort but it's not. I want to inform people to watch out for the RCI travel packages. RCI travel packages take your money. You do not get the benefit that they claim.
I was transferred to several different departments in several US & international location and finally, the unhelpful, unfriendly RCI Cruise Centertificat customer service rep Jose Garcia from Mexico City was unable to track my recent calls or my original calls back in Oct 2017 so it's basically my words against theirs. So infuriating and is this even legal in the state of California to buy certificates that you can't use since there's a law that states gift certificates bought cannot be expired?

We were sold 15000 points to explicitly be able to book places on a nightly basis, as opposed to weekly.
However, whenever I have tried (over the past over 3-4 years) to find this accommodation it is never available.
I have tried contacting via phone and they always explain it away as that there are very few places that you can choose from. Apart from the high-pressure sales pitch where you have to cough up a substantial amount of money whilst you're on holidays, I thoroughly resent having to pay out 250gbp/ annum and risk losing points that I have been unable to use within the 3 year time period.
What the hell?
My sister purchased a cruise and resort voucher in 2016 and has been unsuccessful in booking any cruise or resort after many hours searching. Also many telephone conversations . The activati9n code has stopped working as they have changed the system. Has now been told to look for any cruise and they will see if there is availability. Many times she has done this and they come back with an extortionate amount she has to pay when She has already paid £2000 . Any advice as to what she can do .
severe difficulty in cancelling and trying to reschedule paid resort vacation
I purchased a cancun trip booking id: lnbk427901 resort id: 5037 with drew taulu, during the last 6 months we made drew very aware that we were in the process of adopting our great nephew and have been legally advised not to leave the country or get a temporary passport for him. Drew said no problem call him occasionally and he will adjust our vacation package for when we can go. He can longer be reached. We even obtained a cancellation policy, evidently we were supposed to notify rci within 30 days of any possible changes, I do not recall that in conversation but was reminded of that by a carlos who took our cx nod was very rude trying to out speak me. He said if we wanted to reschedule we would have to pay a new price drew never said that to us. My spouse and I are both disabled veterans of this country who still work and do very hard for our money. This trip was meant to be a celebration of our great-nephews adoption which has been going on legally since 2014. I find it hard to believe that we cannot get receive any of our money back. Very bad business. We will be sure to add this to the lengthy lists of complaints which I have found throughout the internet.
I am an RCI Platinum member for the past 2 years, only because we paid an additional $10, 000 for a Vacation Village at Parkway timeshare. We were told of the "perks" that came with being Platinum member.
We finally received notification of a search in Maui and when I went to book it, the "on-line" reservation did not take, so called the number. After 2 hours of conversation, I was told I owed $80 for a "service mistake" on RCI's part. I pay with a credit card to reserve vacations and at that time paid what they said I owed. Now to book this vacation, RCI tells me that I owe $80 from a previous vacation back in July 2015. I did not know why and couldn't get a decent answer after 2 hours. So I called the [protected] number that Vacation Village told me was dedicated to just for owners. After spending another hour on the line, Ray tells me that the system error which was RCIs problem, that they had a points credit of $40 given to me, but I only paid $99 instead of the $219 fee. And the $40 credit went in 3 times so I owe $80 back before I can use RCI services for booking anything.
If there is no way to invoice or let members know there was an error in billing, why can't an email or phone call let members know there is something outstanding on your books? This is outrageous and I think this ought to be eaten by RCI and let me TRY to utilize their services. If this is what I have to go through, I am not going to use this service and WARN others not to either!
My name is Sukhjit kaur brar( from bathinda, punjab, india) and my husband's name is Jasjitpal singh Brar. We are members of sterling and got holiday package through RCI for international travel. Firstly when I try to book any international resort, for example in canada, the customer service agents never find a good resort for me . They always say that they are pre booked even if I try booking in advance. Secondly, they are so rude and are totally illiterate about basic etiquette of customer service. I booked a holiday package at pacific shores resort and spa( nanoose bay, Vancouver island, Canada) for DEC 18-dec25, 2016 and gifted it to my daughter and son-in-law. But due to some undesirable circumstances they will not be able to go there, so we tried requesting them that if they could at some other time. Also my daughter called them from Canada to request for change. The customer service agents were very rude and hung up on her. They denied our request by saying that we cannot change date. We have paid a lot of money and in return we do not expect such responses. We are totally aware of the fact that there is nothing such which cannot be changed, but the company just wants to make money and not accommodate client requests.
Please contact me regarding missold timeshare in Malta.
Each time I try to send this complaint it us cancelled by your austen. I have tried more than 5 times to submit the complaint and I'm fed up of writing each time the story of how we have been treated.
I have been in contact with the resort and have had no joy what so ever from them. The room purchased was extremely poor in quality for a 5 star.
We were asked to pay £940 deposit and not told about the cooling off period.
We were told about free add ons but these never materialised as they were cancelled each time.
Hounding by staff to purchase another week.
This whole rci thing they do at many of rci properties was a deceptive marketing. I want to warned anyone who pays money upfront to take a very close look at the paper received and make right decisions at the time. Your money is not refundable. You lose every penny if you regret later.
On oct. 2016 (Last week), i went to grandview at las vegas for my week (42 week of year). The front lady said they thank me for a long time owner and provided me a package which had a lunch buffet in south point casino and two show tickets for lower prices comparing to buying it yourself. She would not accept credit card so i gave her $20 cash.
On the second day morning i went to the resort check-in room as was told. I expected to leave with several others bought the same package. It was supposed to leave around 12 noon but i could not see any indication it's happening.
I went to talk to the lady who took $20, she said i had to register with another lady in the front ( it was strange already to me). I went to give her one of the paper i got yesterday after paying $20. But after another about 20minutes a third lady called me name and told me i would go to a vip room in south point casino for brunch then attend a presentation.
I did not know there was some presentation involved in the package and asked her what was the presentation about. She said it's presentation from rci. I immediately told her i was not informed about the presentation and i was a rci member before and i knew rci. I requested $20 refund since i did not go for brunch and did not buy any show tickets at lower (Really?) price.
But the second lady i registered with refused to refund me the money and said it was non-refundable and stated on the paper.
I am an owner of points timeshare for grandview at las vegas. I bought it before it was built and a company was marketing it in a hotel on the strip.
At the time purchasing the timeshare, i also joined rci. I don't remember the details since it was over ten years ago.
I was in rci for about five years and cancelled membership since i did not find any valuable places to go from their offers. When i cancelled membership i had over ten thousand points left unused.
Members since 1979, was satisfied until now. Listen to your recorded w/chris tape 9/23 4:01 great barrington ma. Location nightmare, disrepair concern with health and safety. Threaten with trespassing. We want a refund of the point extension $109, plus @$229 for each date 9/23, 10/22 & 10/30 vacations plus search for ny june2017-sept2017. Leave rci, end
/I booked a resort for 9/2-9/9 in Orlando, FL. On 9/1 FL issued a SOE for 51 counties due to the hurricane, and the storm was also headed to Georgia where I live. I contacted RCI and spoke with a supervisor(Ray) who was very professional and helpful. Ray stated that they are still in the process of updating the cancellation policy(which states that in the event of a natuarl diaster RCI would issue a CREDIT in the amount of the fee to your acct and allow you to book another vacation, or UPON MY REQUEST refund the fee) to include the affected areas and to give them a little more time. He also said that they update the policy to cover areas where the I live in the event I was unable to leave my home to travel to my resort destination and that he was going to notate my account about our conversation. So when I called back on 9/2 I never expected that I would have an issue getting a refund since GA issued a SOE because of the hurricane as well. I spoke to another supervisor(Kristie) who told me if she cancelled my reservation for the natural disaster I could be issued a voucher in for the purchase amount and I had until 9/30 to book another reservation to travel up to 2 years. I asked her for a refund instead, Kristie stated that the policy is to issue a voucher because she only showed Florida Panhandle as a affected area. I then asked Kristie where was this policy located because that was not what is written in section 16.1-16.3 and she could/would not tell me. I then stated that I could not possibly book another reservation for this year because I had just booked a resort in July for my vacation and this was the only other time I was able to travel this year. And the 2nd option to book a future trip would cost me a min $124.00 to renew my membership for 1 year(RCI only allows you to borrow 1 year of points) and borrow from future points which is 21.333 points which was not going to be nearly enough because a future reservation would require a min 42, 000 points. So, basically I would lose my money. Kristie refused to adhere to the cancellation policy for natural disasters and was extremely unprofessional. I have never had such horrible customer service in my life for something that was out of my control! I have canceled my membership with RCI and I will never refer anyone to this company.
Rci is a terrible company. They sold me on "mini vacations" that are totally worthless. I can beat their quotes online every day. I threw away $1200 on a 2 year trial subscription and I am kicking myself for it.
I can't even trade my points for tickets to universal studios - I lack the proper amount of points and can't roll over from another year. I get 10, 000 points a year. To convert them to tickets at universal studios, I need 12, 000. Stupid policy.
I am trying to salvage some part of my investment and am coming up short every time. Rci does not offer any value and has only been a headache to deal with.
Do yourself a favor — so not purchase anything from rci.
If anyone else files a class action suit, please contact me. I want in.
Thank you.
While vacationing at the royal solaris cancun resort, my boyfriend and I went to get information on a timeshare that partners with rci. After hearing the sales pitch we decided the timeshare wasn't for us and when we told the "closer" marco garcia that we weren't interested he became extremely rude, unprofessional and offensive. He told us that "I didn't come to you, you came to me", and if that wasn't bad enough he added "I already have your money". Rci should take a good look at who is representing their company, as marco garcia is a disgrace!
Sold a vacation timeshare after an exhausting day of touring and sales pitch in July 2015. Purchased 1 week of unit at Canada House in Florida. Appeared to be a good value for our family vacations based on Trading Points for unit. We had no desire to stay at this unit as it is too small for our family. Again, purchased this timeshare for trading points only. Dissatisfied with the company for the following reasons: (1) Unable to deposit exchange week until annual maintenance fees paid for unit purchased. (2) Unable to pay maintenance fees until amount assessed in October. (3) Paid fees and began search for vacation to enjoy spring break in April 2015. (4) Spent hours and hours trying to understand website and trading options. The website is not user friendly. Read all the information provided. Completed tutorials. Spoke with consultants one the phone and had online chats for assistance. (5) Unable to locate accommodations for the location desired - units available were too small or undesirable. (6) Expanded search nationwide - still no units available as requested. The program is advertised as having thousands of units (options) worldwide. However, this is a huge overstatement. After spending hours and hours searching, we were unable to confirm accommodations as needed (date, size and location). Request release from membership ASAP.
Do not purchase a vacation package from this company rci they are a total scam! I have spent a lot of money with this company however, I will never give them another dime. The most recent package I purchased was for $2, 199.00 for a 7 day cruise plus a 7 night stay at a resort or 2 or 3 night stay in a hotel. Today I went to book my 7 night at a resort and they tell me I do not have that option? It shows it on my account that I have a 7 day resort certificate? Rci tells me that I used it for a hotel stay when we went to porta vista in san diego for 2 nights? What? By the way porta vista is a dive and poor customer service, read there reviews. There reviews are just as bad as rci. Then beware of the cruises as there are all kinds of hidden fees, plus when you book a cruise there are port fees that you have to pay as well. They will not tell you that when you are purchasing a package. Buy and pick out your own vacation as it is way cheaper. Rci does not care about customer satisfaction, they are money hungry and will rip you off! I had also paid $259.00 for a resort in montana with both points and money and I had to cancel as my family member that was due to go with to this resort passed away 2 days before check in. They would not even reimburse my fee of $259.00 when there was a death in the family, really? Rci have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Beware of there scam! You will lose money by purchasing their packages!
I was just told today 17 October by Evelyn and Marelie Dorsling at RCI that in order to attempt to obtain a successful booking with a banked rci week internationally that I should look to put my name on a waiting list in excess of 2 years before I intend to travel. WOW! I have had RCI for many years and in the last 14 years have NEVER been able to exchange a week. Booking a family holiday more than 2 years in advance or alternatively 2 weeks in advance as was the other suggestion is absurd! What an insane suggestion! I will be selling my timeshare!
RCI told us that they booked a suite with King bed and a sofa bed. Calling resort, they said that they have a 2 double bed room for us and only RCI can change it. We paid 3000 dollars in all inclusive fees and spent 12 hours on phone to remedy the situation. RCI does not even acknowledge their mistake and is not willing to call Resort to fix this.
We have Wyndham and it absolutely impacts our experience. Wyndham uses RCI as their exchange company. Wyndham should be responsible for affiliations that they offer their members. It is a waste of money to buy their time share.
This will probably be a longer than you would like, but it is truly a reflection of how I feel about RCI, their rules and their fees. Once upon a time (22 years ago, when I purchased my timeshare and joined RCI), life was easy. I deposited my week, paid a fee and traded for a week somewhere else for vacation. Life changed and it changed for the worse, much worse.
First, they tried to talk everyone into the points system and wanted to charge large fees for the privilege. For those who chose to stay with the weeks program, they basically forced the points system on us anyway by assigning a value to each deposit and at least for many of us, our timeshare resorts got seriously devalued. So, what are the chances that any of us can find a unit we want to trade for that is worth exactly what our deposit is worth? I have two weeks on deposit; one is worth 20 and the other 18. Do you think I can find a unit for 20 points? No, I have to combine deposits and pay an additional fee, or trade for one of less value and then pay RCI to extend the remaining point value so that next year, I can again pay a fee to combine the remaining points with my deposit worth 18 points. Either way, they found a way to get more money from me. This of course in addition to my annual membership fees that keep going up in cost. Now, I find they have added another detrimental kicker to the whole process.
My deposit for the 20 points expires in May 2016, so I looked to trade for something before then. I found something for late December 2015, but the value of it was 25 points. OK, I needed to combine deposits to get this unit (a studio mind you in Florida to my two bedroom). My annual membership expires in October 2015, so they wouldn't allow me to make this trade until I extended my membership. OK, so now, I need to extend my membership, and then pay the fee to combine deposits, and then pay the trade fee and then the final surprise. The 18 point deposit that was going to expire in May 2017, the 13 remaining points would now expire in February 2017, because I was going to use 5 of the points to combine with to 20 point deposit. That's right; I was going to lose 3 months off of the time to use it. Once you combine any deposit, the remaining points expire two years after use it for combining. This way, I could spend more money to extend the time available to use it. That really, really was the final straw. I cancelled the extension of my annual membership, I did not proceed with the trade and I am writing to express my frustration. I so want to sue RCI for changing the agreement I entered into with them, for unilaterally devaluing my assets, while implementing a system designed to raise my costs by double and triple.
I would seriously like the various boards of Directors to consider contacting other resorts in like situations and appeal to them to join in a lawsuit. I can't imagine that everyone isn't feeling similarly about what is going on.
If something isn't done soon, I see no value whatsoever in keeping my timeshare. The cost is becoming prohibitive and the only option is to give it up.
To whom it may concern,
Myself and my husband have been a member of rci for 18 years. We recently booked a trip to damai beach resort through rci. I am writing this letter because what occurred both when trying to obtain details about the resort and confirming information and then what happened when we arrived at the resort certainly does not uphold the standard professed by rci:
“rci is the leading global provider of innovative products and services to the worldwide travel and leisure industry.”
When enquiring about booking the trip I often found that I had trouble understanding the operator as well as they often didn’t seem to understand what I was saying. My request was I wanted to book at damai beach resort but I needed to ensure that the accommodation meet my needs as a disabled person. I require a walker and whilst I can navigate a few steps any more than a few cause me quite a lot of difficulty – both me just getting up the steps causes pain as well as trying to get my walker up and down which I can only do if I have someone else with me. Because of this I asked for specific details about the rooms available. When I found out we were designated a hill top room that you can only get to by bus. I requested something more suited to my needs. After numerous phone calls I was told that there were 4 steps I would need to navigate to get to the room. Imagine my horror after travelling over 10 hours to find that in fact I had to navigate two flights of stairs in addition to the 4 steps I was informed about.
Unfortunately the accommodation suiting my needs as a disabled person was not the only complaint I have. When I received information about our room I was lead to believe that our rooms was one with a king bed, bunk bed and pull out sofa. The privacy was descried as 2 – which I was advised meant two separate rooms. Because we were travelling with my daughter and her child (Our grandson) we needed to have separate rooms. Again imagine all of our horror when we found that we were in one rooms with two double beds – I don’t understand how that can equal 2 privacy.
I constantly asked for confirmation of the layout of the room both in written forms and photos. My requests were not fulfilled. If I had of seen the stairs and the room I would have sought alternate accommodation.
The night we arrived we discussed this issue with the hotel manager. We showed our rci paperwork to the manager and he agreed that it read that we were to have ground room and I asked about the room with the 2 privacy. He advised this mistake must be rci’s as there were no rooms owned by rci of the description we believed we had booked i. E. Ground level room with two separate rooms. The hotel manager contacted rci and at one point we were advised that we needed to be in the lobby at 5.30 pm to discuss the issue with rci, however they never rang back. As I said we needed two rooms in order to enjoy our holiday to the fullest, we would never have booked a single room. As a result the only option we had was to pay $373 (Australian) for an extra room. We can’t fault the service of the manager as he allowed us to have two rooms on the ground floor (Despite rci actually owning none).
I feel the service from the time of trying to confirm the room type and if it met my needs to be pretty appalling. The result was that we ended up in a situation where myself, as a disabled person, was not safe and we did not have the privacy we had asked for. This impacted our holiday not just from the extra money we had to pay to resolve the situation but also because we have had to spend a considerable amount of time whilst we were on holidays trying to get in touch with rci to discuss the problem.
The feeling we got was that rci did not care and took no responsibility for what had occurred. When we arrived back we again contacted rci, they have since refunded $298 to us and are still investigating. I just really feel that rci need to review how they deal with bookings and confirmations in particular if someone has special needs such as a disability.
Even whilst the investigation has been occurring I still am feeling as though rci don’t care, because no one is acknowledging what is factual i. E. I was told there were 4 steps – this was not true, I was told I had a ground level room – this was not true – I was told we had separate rooms – not true.
I am now lacking total confidence regarding any further bookings with rci as I did not get what I believed and this impacted on my holiday and no one is acknowledging this.
From this I feel that you do not know how to service the disabled community. And that your descriptions of rooms are misleading. It seemed that the operators just wanted to tell me yes, and then I had to deal with the consequence when I arrived at the accommodation.
RCI lists hundreds of resorts as available for exchange however when you go to the resort on line and click on the week
you find a statement that due to recent activities the resort is no longer available. This notation stays on the site for weeks and weeks so as to provide a false sense of the real number of resorts available. In addition, when I go to book a vacation for an resort, RCI system does not confirm your vacation. I called RCI regarding this issue, a representative states that RCI have a glitch in their system.
We are spending a tremendous amount of money to bank our vacation, now RCI cannot provide the proper service for their customers.
Moreover, the customer service representatives are truly insensitive to our concerns. I am truly going to write the Federal Credit Trade and Consumer protection agency regarding this matter. This issue is long over due.
We need to make RCI accountable for their unprofessional and false representation services to their customers.
I hoping this issue will be resolved and respectfully.
I'm not really sure which location this company operates from. However, I booked a trip to Reno, NV. for April 13th, 2014. I paid
$49.00 trip insurance which has in the past guaranteed that my deposit would be refunded should I need to cancel the trip.
I have done this in the past and received credit. However, this time they tell me that the insurance is only to guarantee
that I don't lose my week not a refund for the amount paid. This is a scam! I'm reading other complaints about this company that I have never seen before. In over 10 years of being a member I have never had this problem although we have had to cancel trips int the past. Where do I go from here?
We were offered a cruise/vacation package for 1600.00. Sounded good over the phone, as a matter of fact to good to be true. When I booked the cruise I had to pay and extra 1700.00 for a handicap room. That was problem number one. When I went to book our seven day vacation, it could only be booked a year in advance. Well most owners dont turn in their week...
Since RCI went on the trading power system they found other ways to rip you off. I have left over points (points balance they owe me) from a previous booking and want to combine them with points from another week. I can do this myself online with a few simple clicks of the mouse but they want to charge $109.00 to do this. In other words I have to pay for something they owe me! There has been numerous class action lawsuits brought against RCI over the years and they have lost them all. Is there any other options out there other than using RCI?
I have tried working with RCI since the 1980- have purchased additional timeshares to accumulate points and travel. The RCI point system is blatantly false- Interval International points are like cash - no one has higher trading power because of a myriad of definitions as with RCI. If you search with them and your search is based on a particular unit with a "trading power" of 17 and someone in the line who has begun a search AFTER and has a trading power of 23 then they get the location. This would be if you and they were searching for the same exchange for the same week. This is absolutely a scam - and should be exposed. If you have the possibility of getting out of RCI do -it - this system is an absolute class action waiting to happen, and if anyone has an interest in doing so - please post and lets get started. BESIDE charging you every time you sneeze - they are ripping you off.
When I bought my time share, RCI assured me that availability was not a problem because only members of the program can access the timeshares. I have since learned that availability is a serious problem, RCI engages in the practice of skimming a large percentage of the timeshares from the system, including many prime timeshares, and renting them to the general public at a profit to RCI, or selling them to vendors who then rent them to the general public. As a result, no matter how meticulously one follows RCI’s rules and procedures, and no matter how far in advance one begins looking for a desirable exchange, one simply cannot find available destinations. Since RCI does not allow extending points into the following year without a $99.00 payment one is forced to either forfeit the points or pay an additional $99.00.
Been with rci since 1993, have had no problems with vacation exchanges through the years. I have always received the exchanges that i've requested. Exchanged to scottsdale, orlando, montego bay, myrtle beach, new bern, williamsburg, aruba, souther pines, fairfield glade, lake lure, branson, las vegas, morgantown wv,
Very pleased with rci
I have never had any success with rci trying to find an exchange for my weeks I have banked with them even if you try to put it in yrs before there seems to benothing available. I would ike to go with them in a lawsuit class action please contact me thru email
We just paid for our renewal membership for 2012, we have owned for a year and one of the sales pitches used by Lynn Hunter and his crew was that they would help us sell points for a few years to help pay the bill down since we were not able to use the points for at leat three years. The man who sold us the deal left Mr. Hunter's team shortly thereafter leaving us with no one but Mr. Hunter himself to help us. He assured us that we were one of a few clients he was keeping and working with personnally, however, when you can reach him he is busy out of state, can't help us with the problem or simply does not want to deal with buyers after he gets his commission. We had to take out a loan to pay off the plan and now look at 1000.00 payment each month for the next several years. He assured us we could sell enough points in the first couple years to pay it off. What happened Mr. Hunter? Is this the way you treat all your clients, or just retired military. If anyone reads this please contact me at [protected]@yahoo.com or by phone to tell me if you can help.
We have owned a local time share condo for many years and last year decided to trade our location through RCI -- just for a change. I hated the process, because you have to pay the fees and give up or "bank" your own condo week before you can even search to see what other destinations are available. After we banked the condo, we could not find a destination within 8 hours driving time that we wanted. But, we could not get our other one back. We were supposed to have two years to find a place, but if you don't re-join RCI the second year, you cannot even search for destinations anymore. Then, the worst part of all... they provide your name and contact information to other companies who will then flood you with calls day-in and day-out to ask you to rent or sell your time share. Now that it is near summer time (when we have our time share week), we have NO PEACE at home with these phone calls. I have now asked for RCI to put us on their "do not contact" list, and we will never do business with them again. We didn't know what we were in for.
We were cheated by RCI and Best Western Resort Country Club, Manesar, India and the and have hence filed a complaint (complaint No. 579/2009) in the Consumer Courts, Sheikh Serai. The case is sub-judice. The summary of my complaints is below:
Summary
• We were enticed on 13th Sept’ 2000 into buying a time share with Resort Country Club, Manesar for a “ One Bedroom Apartment”—Red Week ( Priority over White and Blue week ). At least one week of booking with a resort of one’s choice from RCI’s list of almost 4000 International and 70 resorts in India was allowed per year.
• We paid full money of Rs. 76, 600/- on 13th Sept’ 2000 i.e. on day one.
• We were told that we would receive our membership certificate and card within one month and the RCI membership within 6 weeks.
• However we did not receive anything despite reminders. After 5 months in Feb’ 2000 we received our membership certificate which was from the year 2002 to 2032 (alternate 16 years) so that we couldn’t start availing our holiday before 2002. What a joke! We pay in full in the year 2000 with a promise to use our holidays within 2 months but can’t start our holiday before the year 2002!
• We protested and finally in July 2001 i.e. after 10 months RCC apologized by sending a person to our home and rectified the “Agreement” and gave us a new “membership certificate” with amendments to pacify us by making it for 15 consecutive years.
• After constantly prodding RCC we got out RCI membership too (which was RCC’s job) in late July 2001 i.e. 10 months (i.e. almost 44 weeks against the promise of 6 weeks) from our date of paying.
• The RCC membership card was not received by us even until Jan’2002 i.e. 16 months later (see our letter dated 28th Jan 2002 to RCC)
• We could not avail our holidays for the years 2000 and 2001. This was despite the promise of at least 3weeks—one welcome week, one ownership week each for the years 2000 and 2001. We got none. Thanks to the slip shoddy job by RCC
• The only satisfying holiday that we ever got thru RCI was at Toshali Resorts, Shillon Bagh, Shimla in the year 2003. We tried Toshali again in the year 2005 (which we could not avail) and in 2006( the bitter experiences of which are narrated in out letter to RCI)
• In the years 2003 and 2005, we were given “Studio Apartment” by RCI at Bhimtal and Toshali respectively despite our higher entitlement of “One Bedroom Aptt.). This was despite the fact that both resorts had surplus “One Bedroom” accommodation available. There has been an attitude of denial throughout by RCI
• Most of the times we could not get our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice during our kids’ vacations even though we asked months in advance. We had to adjust to RCI’s dictates of what was available. Ajit Bhawan in Jodhpur in summer and club Mahindra resort in Binsar were two such destinations which were practically imposed on us. Country Inn, Bhimtal was another. Though the resort was nice yet the timing given to us was inconvenient. We had to travel thru U.P. during Holi—another nightmare when our vehicle was attacked by a mob of 50 people and 2 window panes were broken by the mob. We reached the resort with my kids and wife bleeding with the vehicle full of broken glass. During Holi few would venture thru U.P. for a holiday—the resort was fairly vacant and RCI could only provide us this despite our asking for a resort in Himachal Pradesh
• In the past 5 years from 2005 till 2009, we have been able to avail only one holiday in 2006 (that too unsatisfactorily) of 2 weeks at Toshali--- 2 weeks at one place only because RCI couldn’t offer us any other choice out of the various choices in Himachal Pradesh.
• We have been paying up our dues regularly to RCC and the RCI excepting the annual subscription of Rs. 7000/- for the year 2009 which we have withheld for reasons above
• Apart from this Rs. 1, 36, 253/-, exchange and utility charges have been given to RCI and the respective resorts from time to time. If we include these, our total investment would be around Rs. 2 lakh the interest on which alone would give us a decent hassle-free holiday every year with freedom to choose time and place. But now we are just slaves of RCI and RCC paying them every year without commensurate benefit.
• Both RCC and RCI have been deficient in service and have taken us for a ride
This is an eye-opener for those investing in time-shares--don't enslave yourself!

I am a former employee of RCI and I live in Saint John New Brunswick Canada, where the largest RCI contact center has been for 10 years plus. If your an RCI member and have called, then you have dealt with this particular center. A few days ago RCI told all the employees at this center 300 or more that the center is being closed in April so they are all out of jobs and many of them have been there for several years.
They say more and more customers are doing buisness on the net and I know they are but I am willing to bet its because the Canadian and US dollar have been equal for some time so were not cheap enough anymore. You can bet your life when you call in after that you will be talking to the small center in Indy which I doubt or more likely the center in Manila where the labor is dirt cheap and we all know they are masters at speaking english that no one in North America could understand and selling you stuff you dont want without you knowing it.Or they will open a center in some other thrid world *** hole so be aware when you call you will no longer be talking to nice Canadian's and I would keep my credit card number to myself.
Talk about crooks! You trade in your nice week, they rent it out and when you want something nice they don't have it. What's wrong with that picture?
Crystal and John Dehaan did not set it up that way! They split up, but Wyndham split the owners up. Don't buy a timeshare unless it belongs to Interval International. Their website is IntervalWorld.com. Ask your salesman if the resort is RCI or II affiliated.
I've held a RCI timeshare for 10 years. In those 10 years I've never be satisfied with the product $700 per year in maintenance fees, $179 in booking fees, $50 per year in membership fees and pay taxes on my 1 bedroom condo that I have the priviledge of being able to use for 1 week a year. The maintenance fees have gone from $350 per year to $700 per year. Recently I tried to book a trip on a Thursday and was kicked out of their computer system because they were doing maintenance. I tried again on Monday only to find that the rules and rates had changed. The week I wanted to book was now only available if I combined 2 weeks and paid a $99 fee to combine them so I could get the 1 week I tried to book earlier. I spoke to 3 customer service managers only to find out that they had the ability to book this condo like I had originally wanted but they chose not to do it. Talk about crappy customer service. I'm in the process of trying to sell or give away this white elephant before it costs me another $700 for the 2011 year. Do yourself a favor and never use RCI. Tell your friends never to use them and if you have a condo with them try to unload it as soon as possible.
room allotments to rci members at rci partner resorts
I had a time share allotted thru RCI at the Hill Country Resorts Kodaikanal Tamil Nadu from June 23 - June 30.
Informed the resort i will be checking in on June 25 and kindly block my rooms.
On arrival on June 25 the registration took 1 hour and then was allotted a room with "NO VIEW" facing the hotel entrance and Gate.
The issue was notified to the manager Mr. Mohan Iyer who quoted the following:
"We provide our time share members only R4 & R5 rooms no Valley facing rooms as they are for our other normal guests."
This is inspite of early notification of my check in.
The resort follows a discrimainatory approach and when i called up the RCI customer service the statement was there were no other rooms available.
Apparently the policy of the resort to treat RCI members as second class guests is not being addressed.
Advice all RCI members to stay away from Hill Country and such resorts if you intend to get value for money you pay.
We purchased a timeshare at the Orange Lake resort in Kissimmee Florida about 10 years ago. It's a wonderful timeshare, gorgeous grounds and rooms. It's what they call a 'gold crown' resort, their crème de la crème type resort.
My issue is that we've been there 5 times already so we've really had our fill of Orange Lake. In 10 years, we were NEVER able to trade anything outside of the Orlando area.
When we purchased, they showed us a whole catalogue of resorts and assured us there was nothing we couldn't trade ours for. ..well, unless you want to go to a SKI RESORT or a CARIBBEAN BEACH IN AUGUST - there is NOTHING!
They told us the maintenance fees rarely went up, well, they went up nearly 500% in the 10 years we've had it! RCI is a rip off and I would advise anyone considering going with them to run away in the opposite direction!

I have sent emails to RCI and no response.
Check this out on the web.. go to their site, click on carolinas, then south carolina and then Hilton head and then the month
of MAY. You will find 5 resorts listed and 11 weeks as available but when you go thru the process on each one you will find that
NONE are available. Is this fraud?
When we were looking for a cab at the Cozumel airport we were ushered to the "travel advisory" desk just before exiting the airport. The fellow at the desk presented a very hard to turn down on a car 4 $50 dollar car . I thought well, we really won't need one but to have a car in exchange for viewing a 90 minute property that we may wan to stay at on out next vacation was not a bad deal.
Several days later, when we went to 11am breakfast, we spent an hour on the ferry and 45 minutes in a van to get to Tres Rios. While waiting in the lobby for breakfast(by now its noon and my 10 year old is ravenous). I was told that we needed to wait for the presetation. They aske dif I had plans for later in the day and I told them we had already purchased tickets for Xcaret. They said there was no way I would get there before 6pm. ANd I exclaimed that I was expecting a 90 minute presenation!
They then very sternly informed me that I was told on several occassions that it was at least a 2 hour presentation. I don't see how they sell anything or get anyone to come back with that type of sales technique!
We may have bought one but after that kind of sneaky hook we had to leave. At that point we were stuck with a car rental bill ( for a car that we did not need in Cozumel) at full rate. What a cluster pain!
We'll just avoid Cancun and Cozumel from now on!
The
RCI charges $199.00 exchange fee if you want to book a resort with them. Most, if not all, of the resorts you get to select are "all-inclusive" which require a fee per person per day. The average fee is $65/pp per day. When you have two people, that amounts to $130/day. If you book directly with your choiced resort, the daily all-inclusive rate including the room is lower than that! In fact, if you include the $199 exchange fee, you are paying more to book through RCI than through the resort directly! How is that a deal? And you have to pay RCI to be a member when you do not get any benefit at all! Make sure you check the resort rates first before you do an exchange with useless RCI!
I made resort reservations on 1/16/09 for 1/16/10 using banked points through RCI. When I recently called the resort to reconfirm my dates, I was told that RCI had scheduled me for 1/16/09 and there was no way the resort could adjust for RCIs mistake. I called RCI and got nowhere. Additionally, RCI cancelled my membership. I am contacting an attorney to try to get my banked points plus my transfer fee totalling over $500 back.
The only other time I banked my timeshare points with RCI, I got put in a rundown resort when I exchanged my points. I own at a very classy, expensive resort. RCI is a rip-off!
RCI...greedy! Canceled a much looked forward trip to Cancun, because of the most recent media reports about Swine Flu, on the advise of our government, I might add. RCI will not reimburse the booking fees or apply them towards another vacation. Even the airlines are not charging rebooking fees in connection with this. It's ridiculous enough that I pay a membership fee to RCI, a booking fee for any vacation I wish to use MY week for (that's assuming they even have somewhere I want to go-which is rare), all in addition to the few thousand I pay in taxes for the timeshare. HOW DID I EVER THINK THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?
RCI are nothing more than a bank trying to take as much money from you as they can. Ludicrous annual fees to be a member, for which you get a periodic magazine with resorts that when you try and obtain a transfer week, the answer is same too frequent "nothing available" If you do find a place you then have to pay a ridiculous $199.00 for booking a non home resort!
Trying to book at your home resort is nearly as bad. We just found out from our home resort owners that we can dump RCI and book through them as they only give RCI a few vacancy's per month, which we are doing. This is the way to go if you are happy with going to your home base and not having to pay a $99.00 to RCI to do that! and lets face it, RCI can't/won't get anything elsewhere anyway!
I was recently asked by RCI Points to pay what I was told was a discounted rate for Points for one year. This amounted to about £400 for about 56, 000 points. This amount is similar to what I used to pay as a Maintenance charge for ownership that had entitled me to the same number of points.
Later I came to find the only booking I could make with RCI was for a week in a very nice looking Irish Cottage. If I booked this cottage direct it would cost about £600 for a week. If I use my points to book the Cottage week RCI say I must 'spend' about 180, 000 points. The rate is apparently 300 points are 'worth' £1.
However to purchase points the rate is approximately 140 points per pound. So the 'exchange rate' seems to be about half and the cottage week will actually cost me £1, 300 plus the RCI booking fees etc. If I had never been a member of RCI and the cottage would only cost £600.
With the large number of rental properties available now it is very hard to see how RCI Points can survive or be worth subscribing to unless you are a property owner and find it works for you. So I feel that this situation of points cash value should be publicized as a fraud and that RCI should change their system so that they are giving far better value for money.
Otherwise it is hard to see why anyone should continue to subscribe unless they are able to use the system to make exchanges between properties they own and nearly equivalent properties elsewhere. To use RCI Points as a sort of bank to purchase weeks in apartments seems to be a either a fraud or at best an expensive way to do what could be done cheaper by just going on the internet and making a direct booking.
I have used rci very much over the past years. When I first saw the cheating I thought it might have been a mistake. But the mistakes are continuous. The sole purpose of rci is to rob as much money from customers as possible and then everyone doesnt respond. Rci has a class action which claims rci is renting out properties that they shouldnt. Over the last 8 months I have been addressing illegal people being at my resort. Read below. Below is the recent letter that I sent rci. Check everything that you do with rci. Anything bad about rci, let everybody know by writing in sites like this. Good luck

03/25/09 dear rci feedback, over 8 months I have been cheated, lied to, not responded to and threatened by richard ruff. Richard ruff and other rci employees have caused severe stress and aggravation to me and friends by intentionally taking a very long time to respond and still not answering critical questions. For 2 weeks I have been telling various rci employees that mr. Balotti, ceo, must know what is going on. I need a confirmation that you are getting this to mr. Balotti immediately. I and friends are intensely angered by this situation. Please respond and confirm shortly. Thank you. Joe walsh ps please email below to mr. Ruff asap. Please ask him to respond to me on email. Ask him to answer the questions that he still has not responded to asap. Thanks again

03/25/09 this letter is in response to your letter of march 25. As I addressed to you previously, I believe that these issues are so critical and rci still hasnt addressed issues that it is critical that mr. Balotti read this letter and respond. First of all my anger is because rci repeatedly does not respond to questions and crimes. After 8 months your letter does not respond to the issues I raised. Kindly read the following carefully and respond to every issue not just the issues that you want to respond to. Let us take last case for example. Below is melinda kelsey's response of feb 26. As you can see she stressed the urgency of the matter. Erin rader took the case several days later. Airfares and fishing charters have been paid for in hawaii. From feb 26 until today melinda kelsey and erin rader did not say one word about the situation. Why did you take so long to respond about critical issue? 3 different times I called rci weeks and they said they would email erin and her supervisor for response. No response. Why no response? Also you did not address the lie of melinda kelsey to cancel weeks in hawaii. Below is letter to erin on 3/23.in it you will see the lie of melinda. Why did she lie? The charges of 164 and 547 are for hawaii. A rci girl said I had to pay this amount for hawaii, so I paid it and charges have not been cancelled. The charges were removed from the weeks I had because even until your letter you have not addressed the crimes. Please explain clearly to me why rci did not respond to american express about the charges. It is your direct fault that charges were removed. I showed rci that there were people illegally in my unit. I also showed rci repeatedly that the resort refused to respond. All I asked rci was to tell me what they showed for weeks. When I wrote letter I wasnt aware of class action against you for renting properties that you shouldnt have. Rci realized that crimes were committed so they did not say one word about the crimes nor what their records showed.in all the time you took, you did not address the issue. Rci has direct responsibility of whom is in my unit. As for turkey I was told by three different rci people that breakfast was included. When I got there, I was told breakfast was not included.in the evidence I sent repeated emails to rci with no response. Why no response? From turkey I called rci to resolve and I was told I should get breakfast. I still did not get breakfast and still no response from repeated emails. On the official rci confirmation there was no points listed nor breakfast shown.in actuality I should not have been charged any points. Is this correct? I also addressed the obvious and intentional overcharge of 115, 000 points for one small room outside the city in off season. David albright or you have not addressed the intentional crime. Why not? All david said was that he was going to give me back points and end of case. Orbitz also did not respond to crime. I sent david and rci my bills for breakfast and telephone charges and not one word was said by rci. Why not? Also the resort promised pool and bus to the city. Neither one existed. Pool was down. I addressed this with rci and again no response. Why not? The last time I dealt with rci partners I was intentionally charged 150 dollars more than what was agreed to by rci. I explained this to rental company and they agreed I was overcharged and they gave me credit. The evidence is plain to see. My vacation was completely ruined because rci left me hanging. Any dispute to what I said? I also addressed to you the week that completely disappeared when it was transferred from wyndham to rci. These are weeks that rci does not allow us to see on the internet. Why is this? Why is it that most of the weeks that I have I cant see on the internet? After the week disappeared a supervisor said these things happen. I told rci 4 years ago that we should see everything we own and nothing has changed in 4 years. Also, the internet to rci is ridiculous. A rci employee said the same. Internal errors, cant do what you requested, call rci for help. These are exactly the errors that I saw four years ago. I have been on many internet sites and not one has had the problems that rci has almost on a daily basis. When I see the same problems that I saw 4 years ago, my educated guess is that you are doing this to steal weeks as you did once to me. Kindly explain this. Over 8 months, 30 hours of writing, and much stress for myself and friends, you still have not responded to the issues. You have not done any research on my questions so why did it take you so long to respond? Kindly respond and answer questions. Thank you. It has been previously stated to you that rci did not rent out your unit and your alleged credit issues are not with rci but with your home resort. If you wish to continue to use your rci benefits you will need to allow the charges to go through for your future exchanges along with the $547.00 to pay for the past vacations which you have disputed with your credit card company. Until this issue is resolved we will be unable to attempt to reinstate your confirmations. Since these confirmations have been cancelled, there is no guarantee the inventory will still be available. You can understand how urgency in this matter is important since inventory changes every day. We do want you to successfully transact with rci and encourage you to address this issue as quickly as possible. 03/23/09 dear erin, it is now monday evening and no response from rci or you. This has been from feb. 26 and if you read below melinda kelsey said this was a matter of urgency, yet nobody in rci has responded. Below is my credit card with charges of 164 and 547 paid to rci. These were for my weeks in hawaii. The reason I paid this is that rci girl told me I had to pay this figure for weeks in hawaii. Check the audio tape. The charge on 2/4 was the charge melinda lied about and said that I withdrew the charge of this day. Neither charge is withdrawn. The evidence of rci obstructing justice and intentionally not responding to cause many people pain because we have paid for airfare and fishing charters is below and other emails. Also, rci did not respond to american express about the charges and it is rci's fault that rci wasnt paid. My friends and I talked it over with legal help and what we are going to do is fly to hawaii, stay at resort for one month and bill rci. Rci made a mistake once before and cancelled my confirmation even though I had airfare paid for. Rci is not going to ruin another vacation. Again, melinda said it was an urgent situation almost one month ago and nobody from rci has responded. Your lack of response is also preventing me from taking other weeks. I want a letter from mr. Balotti about this situation. Thank you.
RCI confirmed a booking for a vacation in England. I proceeded to purchase a flight. Now RCI tells me the "hotel" changed my check-in date and it's half way into my vacation - leaving me 1/2 a vacation where i would be w/o a place to stay. I have non-refundable airline tickets !
I dont see how once you have a confirmed reservation they can just "change" it on someone !
Yes rci is a scam!!! Lies, misleading information, all the above! Here is what I think is happening. This is based on my experience. I visited playa grande resort in cabo. Yes, its absolutely beautiflu and I love it. However, I never planned on going to my same resort/timeshare every year so I planned to trade based on their pitch that since my resort wa...
When I tried to exchange my gold crown resort, and could not get anything I was told it was my fault for not putting the request in early.
Well... I put the request in almost a year ago and have still not received a trade. Although, I have been called by rci to rent what I have a request in for. I asked them if they were an exchange company or rental agency.
I was furious. Is this legal!
I have been a member of RCI for 6 years. I have used their properties only twice. Once in Manhattan, NY and once in Florida. The property in NY was very nice but the people were horrible. The property in FL was gross - bugs climbing up the wall, dirty bathroom, stained carpet and incompetent people. I spent 1 out of 6 nights and left. I have never been able to get the property I request in all this time. I am totally fed up.
The clincher is I made a reservation on RCIs recommendation and after checking online the property reviews, I immediately called back and cancelled the reservation. RCI wanted to charge me $25 to cancel an reservation which was made for only 10 minutes. It took me 5 phone calls and 1 1/2 hours to get a waiver to get back my $25. I was so fed up I cancelled my membership. Good riddance.! They are a big RIP OFF.
On July 12, 2008 would be my sixth time to have share with RCI and arranged an accommodation in Risata Bali Resort &Spa, Bali, Indonesia. Kindly be informed that I have been insistent by the RCI's office assistant instructioned during my request to get the resort in Risata Bali our first arrangements we are 5 persons (including my three children) so actualy we're 5 (five) and always with 2 bedroom, kitchen and all facilities, sharing laundry, gym nice swimming-pool etc,
I made sure and have directly called to Risata Bali Resort requested if 2 (two)bedroom hotel are available for that period, positively as their responded are available with 2 bedroom hotel for 5 person (07/12/08 through 07/19/08) as long as RCI could afforded for me plus 4 person.
As usually and erlier I have paid $199.00 for booking two bedroom at Bali Risata Resort with kitchen but RCI has decided
and only one bedroom without kitchen at Risata Bali Resort.
I have been loyal and proud for being members of RCI but this time I got disappointed, no better choices and accepted the offer. I feel so reluctant and stressed, but I always be and being alert with high moral ( to calmed down my self) that RCI should be more respect and understanding of a certain guaranteed with rules, regulations and full standards, come on man this is an American big company, how could you do that..?
" Anyhow, your prompt attention on this matter would be highly appreciated",
God bless America and blessed weekend.
We went to stay at a RCI time share at Paramount Walton Hall and Hotel Warwickshire. The accommodation was dirty and in desperate needs of refurbishment also no heating on. When we approached the Manager Mr Peter Watkins he agreed the accommodation was below par and in need of refurbishment and that RCI were fully aware of the state of the rooms but could offer no recompense or alternative accommodation. When the time share was taken out we understood that the accommodation would always be of a certain guaranteed standard. This certainly fell well below. I am not even sure it was legal as the electrics left a lot to be desired with wires from the hair dryer exposed in the bathroom.
In May 2007 I received a friendly reminder from RCI that my membership was due for renew and was offered a 5-yr for $69/yr or somewhere around $350. I was told that if I renew that I would get a "cruise" voucher good for up to $1200. I requested clarification about the "up to" comment I previously heard and was told that at the conclusion of our conversation that I could be forwarded to the cruise department for further clarification. This was only a bad sign of things to come as it became very clear the cruise department and RCI customer service appear purposely disconnected. Let continue. I was also told that if I deposit my Maui, Hawaii week that I would receive a 2nd bonus week that could also be used in conjunction with the first one, thus having up to $2400 toward a cruise (remember this). I purchased the 5yr membership, but was not forwarded to the cruise dept. I submitted my form to the embassy kanapaali beach club to bank my week and receive a 2nd cruise voucher and received a confirmation of the successful bank to RCI. Now RCI tells me that I already banked my week in September 2006 and I became outraged since I never banked the week! I had to 3-way call the embassy in hawaii and RCI customer service with a supervisor and YES RCI then validated that I infact did not bank in September 2006. The bank was confirmed as May 11, 2007 and a cruise voucher was apparently shipped to my address and would be received a few days after the first one arrived. Three weeks later, I contacted RCI because I never received either of the vouchers that were supposed to arrive within two weeks. A couple more weeks passed and I received the first voucher. I let a couple more weeks go by and called RCI about the 2nd voucher only to be told the 2nd voucher was not valid because I banked in Sept 06. Here we go again. I went around with RCI eight times, included Embassy again and spent over 3 hours on the phone and was promised each and every time that a voucher would be sent to me but it never happened. Finally I was given a voucher activation number and was told to call the cruise department to activate it. I did so only to learn that only one voucher may be used per cabin, they expire in 12 months from activation and may not be used together. WOW. What was I fighting for? I called RCI customer service back and was told by the customer service about the lack of communication between them and the cruise department and cruise department as well as the lack of training received. The rep talked about the hardships their customer service staff had to deal with regarding the cruise voucher promotion and he ultimately provided my with yet another voucher id and I did contact the cruise department to activate successfully, but I will not be using two cabins and have absolutely no idea about the true value of the voucher(s). I know this may be getting boring, but please stay with me because part 2 is worse. We now have a 5 year membership with RCI and I contact them to make arrangements for a southern california timeshare in Anahiem or somewhere close to Disneyland in late July. I am told there is NOTHING available. The first reason, noone in So Cal gives up their timeshare! However, they offer to sell us a week at the Peacock Suites hotel in Anahiem, CA at a higher rate than if I booked the hotel myself or went through expedia. I declined the offer and booked through expedia. Now, not only do they take my RED week in Maui, but they have nothing to trade in return and we out of pocket over $1500 that should still be in the bank making money. I canceled our 5yr and will most likely never use this crooked service again. You'll have to agree that RCI is definitely NOT the well-oiled machine that should be able to put your trust in as a timeshare owner. I'll close this out by mentioning that I've received many phone calls from RCI about renewing my membership and I take the time to tell them about my experience only to learn that it was my fault for not having booked a year in advance. WOW, do they need some competition! I really don't know what to do with this...
Mark in Savage, Minnesota.
RCI charged me twice for an exchange fee. They took my first exchange fee and sent me to a glorified motel in Daytona Beach called the Perennial Vacation Club (http://webmastery.org/perennialvacationclub/) and when I complained, they gave me a compensatory week, but when I went to use that week they wanted to charge me the exchange fee all over again!
RCI called early one morning, 1/07, to tell me my membership had expired 9/06 due to my previous payment, made over a year before, [paying it through 2009] being rejected by my credit card company. I asked how could this be as RCI had my card number on file and I always keep the card balance at zero. They told me RCI probably transposed a digit and that's why it was rejected. I had recently sold my timeshare and RCI membership to a friend, who was out of the country on business for 5 weeks, so was worried he would return to find he had no RCI membership as I had promised. I paid $229, for a 3 year membership, paying the membership through 2009. Several days later I received a letter from RCI saying my membership expired 9/06 and I could get a 3 year renewal for $178. The buyer of my timeshare and RCI membership returned from the South Pacific and informed me that the RCI membership I transferred to him was processed 12/06. I called RCI and was only sent a partial refund. They agreed it was their error in charging me but said "you agreed to buy it... under the terms and conditions... there is nothing we will do for you." It took over a month to receive the remainder of the refund, this after many phone calls and emails. I can no longer recommend RCI due to their poor customer service.
